Bhusandeswar Temple - Asia's Largest Shiva Linga

This temple is situated near the bank of Subarnapur river. It is near about 38 km from Digha & 100 km from Balasore, Odisha. From Digha one can hire a car for visiting this temple along with the tour of "BICHITRAPUR MANGROVES" .

12 ft long Shiva Lingam is worshiped by the remote villages near the temple & it is thrilling to experience such a long & wide Shiva Linga. We offered puja to Lord Shiva at this temple without any hustle bustle of priests. It has been associated with miraculous healing powers as well as mythological story that date back to Ramayana.

At the time of Thretaya Yuga(age) the demon King Ravana was blessed by Lord Shiva & gifted by a Shiva Linga. But Lord Shiva warned him not to place the Linga anywhere. Ravana was on his Pushpak Viman with this Linga. Being desperate Ravana  planted the Linga at this place. He tried to lift again it but failed. It is just 12 ft above the ground & the rest part is still under the ground which can't be recovered till date. People flock to this temple during Shivaratri, Vishuva Sankranti & Chadak Jatra.

It is still under the discover of the travelers & needs more attention of the Govt. to develop this place. The virginity of the remote village & the temple will definitely give you the feeling of togetherness with the nature & the Lord Shiva.
